Life at Skyrise for Joe
Why did you want to work at Skyrise, and how did you apply for your role?
I joined from a media agency background, having spent about six years across a couple of independent agencies. I came across Skyrise while I was in a previous role and got an understanding of the work they were doing and the platform, and it just really excited me. After a meeting with the team, I reached out directly, and the rest is history. It's been a great shift.
Describe a typical day in your role?
Being part of a sales team, it can vary massively, but in a great way. Most days are led by client meetings, whether that's a call or an in-person meet. Then it’s generally catching up on emails on any new audiences or campaigns we're working on. After that it's a case of checking in with the Skyrise team on any current campaigns we're running and the status of everything. It's something new every day, and it's a mix of working with amazing client partners, an amazing internal team, and everything else in between.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
How people-orientated it is. Working across such an amazing range of agencies and brands, as well as with the internal Skyrise team, means you’re constantly surrounded by great people - and that makes the role an absolute joy. The other side is the platform and data: how creative we can get in being able to target any audience, for any campaign, on any channel. From a media perspective, it doesn't get much more exciting than that.
What are the main skills needed for your role at Skyrise?
A big part of it is being a strong communicator. Whether that's presenting to current clients or potential new leads, you need to listen to their needs to understand how we can support them with our data and platform. It's also very much a collaborative process. We work with all the teams at Skyrise, from the response-to-brief stage through to activation and all the way to the PCA. It's about working with everyone and making sure it's to the best campaign we have the ability to deliver.
What advice would you give someone looking to join your team?
Be confident and be willing to learn. There's something new to learn every day because of our approach. It's such a different take on traditional media planning and buying, which is super exciting. I feel very lucky to be part of it. So just get stuck in and soak up as much as you can.
What surprised you about working here?
In a similar vein, it’s how much I personally still learn every day. I’m always picking up new elements from the team and coming from a more traditional media planning and buying approach, that’s great. Having the Skyrise spin on it has been an unbelievable experience to learn from and apply to my day-to-day in everything I do.
How would you describe life at Skyrise in one or two sentences?
Every day revolves around exciting work, amazing culture, and fantastic people.
